Over Seeding
Over time the lawns tend to have a natural slow down of the turf’s reproduction. If your lawn isn’t as thick and lush as it once was, it may be time to consider an over-seeding plan. Though many homeowners believe that fertilization is all that is needed to keep a turf thick and free of weeds, an over-seeding application can be the most effective way to thicken and beautify your lawn.
Over-seeding should be considered every three to six years to insure that your lawn stays dense and healthy. Thin and patchy grass allows weeds to penetrate and ruin your landscape. Another important benefit of over-seeding is disease prevention. The new varieties of seed that are sown this year have better disease resistance than the older varieties in your lawn. Early fall is the most effective time to over-seed, though it can also be effective in the spring. Hydro-seeding is an inexpensive and effective way to put down the new seed.
